SHOWS
I am very fortunate to have 2 shows going on starting this month (August). First one is at Granite Farms Estates with my friend, and very talented artist, Nimrat. Search AlchemybyNimrat to see her amazing work! Granite Farms is a retirement community in Media, PA. The people there are lovely, and were eagerly anticipating the arrival of our art. Sales are nice, but just seeing people stop and really enjoy our work was very rewarding on it’s own. It is a good reminder on why I am really an artist in the first place. I feel I have something to show for anyone who wants to see it. I didn’t get into this to make products. I will continue to make what I want to make, and the people who have been hiring me for commissions have been completely understanding of this. Eventually I will make product type things for people to have. Prints, stickers, etc. But always will be when I want to do them. I don’t want to feel like I HAVE to do it.
The second show that I am extremely grateful to be a part of is the Autumn Exhibition at Scrambled Gallery in New Hope, PA The opening reception is on August 26th and I am sure to be blogging about the experience. I visited the gallery this past Saturday, and WOW!! I love the area, I love the space, and Hope (thee everything for Scrambled) is an absolute true person. You dream of vibes like this going into any show/exhibition, and I really hope it works out there for me. regardless, it is a place I will be spending a lot more time in. Just super cool.
Some quick thoughts before I get into the rest of my day:
Another good night of open studio at the TUSA this past first Friday. Met some new people, seen some familiar faces. Got to see Sean for his opening at Ravensgate. Of course his work is so good!
Practicing painting flowers again recently. I love all plant life, but mostly stuck with painting dormant/dead trees. I find them interesting. I used to make carnations when I was a kid because it was my Mom’s favorite flower at the time.
Also working on some ideas for potential group showings at both Studio 323 and Ravensgate.
David R Head Jr. has a show coming up. I have to find out when and where. Hoping NYC. Tracey Emin also has a show coming to NYC towards the end of the year. I HAVE to make that one!
